Muldrotha & Volo: Are Cards Cast from Graveyard Still There When on the Stack?
Asked by NoSoyYucateco 3 years ago
I am thinking about designing a Muldrotha, the Gravetide commander deck, and I was considering adding Volo, Guide to Monsters. My question is, when cards are cast from the graveyard, are they still considered in that zone while they are on the stack? Or are they moved to the public zone and no longer in the graveyard?
I think the latter is true, but I just want to confirm. If true, Volo could be a great card in a Muldrotha build.

Gidgetimer: That's what I thought. I was just having a moment of doubt about it. Thanks for clarifying!

The stack is a game zone just like any other not merely a concept. A card can not be in two game zones simultaneously (outside of silver bordered UN-sets). The first step to casting a spell is to move it from the zone it was in to the stack. Therefore Volo, Guide to Monsters will work how you want it to in a Muldrotha, the Gravetide deck.
