Manifested Kytheon... flip or no flip?
Asked by Rayenous 9 years ago
I manifest a Kytheon, Hero of Akros
Flip.
Following turn, I attack with it, and 2 other creatures.
Opponent does not block the manifested Kytheon.
After blockers are declared, but before damage, I pay and turn Kytheon, Hero of Akros
Flip face up.
... Does Kytheon, Hero of Akros Flip exile and return transformed as Gideon, Battle-Forged Flip or not...?
I'm thinking yes, as Kytheon is still technically the same creature that attacked, and the ability only triggers at the end of combat and only checks whether that creature attacked (with 2 others).
I'm really just wanting to clarify this before it comes up in my deck Kytheon's Irregular Devotion, by using Mastery of the Unseen, and hitting Kytheon.

Yes. When a card uses its own name in the text of an ability without saying something like "a card named NN" it means "this object". Changing an object's face up/down status doesn't make it become a new object, it just changes its characteristics. Kytheon's ability will trigger in your example.

It's the same object, so he will indeed flip. This is because the ability triggers at the end of combat, not "when this creature and at least two other creatures attack", so as long as it's turned face-up when the ability would trigger, and it did attack together with two others, you will get a Gideon.

No. 'Kytheon' never attacked. Instead, a manifested creature attacked.
