Manifest interaction with bounce spells?

Asked by alexthegreat38 10 years ago

Hey everyone,

I have a rules question. Say I'm playing Write into Being in a Roon of the Hidden Realm EDH deck. What happens if I use Roon's ability to bounce a manifest (or morph for that matter)? Does it come back in face-up, even if it's not a creature? If I manifested a land, will it just hit the field and be a land? If I manifested a non-permanent card, does it get cast, or does it remain a 2/2 creature? Please help me out here.

Thank you in advance!

I'm pretty sure manifested creatures that get bounced would die as they were tokens.

They're not tokens though.

Manifested cards are not tokens.

The ability states that the card is returned to the battlefield. If the card is a permanent card, it's put into the battlefield. If it's not, it remains in exile. Remember that when a card is put onto the battlefield, it enters in its default state (face up, unflipped, untapped, etc.) unless otherwise specified.

Also, rules questions should be asked in the Q&A, which is linked in the header. I can't convert this thread to a Q&A question, so I'm moving it to BE.

Okay, thank you. So if it's a permanent, it comes back face-up, but if it's a non-permanent spell, it just never even comes back from exile?

Yeah, Epochalyptik, I realized that after posting it -- figured the "Q&A" thing would be listed in the forums, didn't realize it was on a separate tab until after posting. Sorry about that.
