Manifest, Artifact, Instant

Asked by Colten_Lee 10 years ago

Okay, so bit of a long question.

Say I have manifested an inatant. Then said manifested card(permanent?) becomes an artifact, from say Mycosynth Lattice, then enchanted with Ensoul Artifact.

Now, since its my understanding that a flipped permanent doesn't become a new permanent as it becomes unflipped as it keeps counters and whatnot(unless I'm wrong), can I flip my manifested card BC it wouldn't actually be entering the battlefield at this point...

And sorry if this has an answer on gatherer or something.

No you still can't flip it over, part of the manifest rulings is that you have to reveal it to be a creature card. Even if your manifested spell is now permanently a creature because of the Mycosynth Lattice and Ensoul Artifact, it's still not a creature card.

701.31b Any time you have priority, you may turn a manifested permanent you control face up. This is a special action that doesn't use the stack (see rule 115.2b). To do this, show all players that the card representing that permanent is a creature card and what its mana cost is, pay that cost, then turn the permanent face up. The effect defining its characteristics while it was face down ends, and it regains its normal characteristics. If the card representing that permanent isn't a creature card or doesn't have a mana cost, it can't be turned face up this way.

In fact if at any time you would be required to flip over a manifested instant or sorcery you reveal it and put it back.

701.31e A face-down permanent represented by an instant or sorcery card can't be turned face up. If an effect instructs a player to turn one face up, its controller reveals it and leaves it face down. Abilities that trigger whenever a permanent is turned face up won't trigger.

Okay, the rulings for manifest clears it up. I can't get onto gatherer for some reason so I couldn't check there. And the app I use for rules hasn't added manifest yet. Thanks much.
