Lightning greaves cancels summon sickness?
Asked by Postmortal_Pop 8 years ago
A member of my playgroup said he was watching a game on mtgo and a player was equipping Lightning Greaves to each creature he played before immediately moving it to another creature, and this allowed all of them to attack.
I was under the impression that they loose haste if they don't have the greaves and would still have summon sickness, how exactly does this work?
It's possible what you're friend saw was equipping the greaves to use a tap ability, then moving them to the next thing. This works because the creature just needs to have haste when it uses the ability. Because all attackers are declared at the same time, each creature would need to have haste at the same time, which greaves can't provide.

You have the right impression. I don't know what your friend actually saw on mtgo, but that's not how haste works. If the creature hasn't been under the player's control since the beginning of their most recent turn, it can't be declared as an attacker if it doesn't currently have haste. Gaining and losing haste earlier in the turn doesn't do anything.
