Lifelink damage on lower toughness creatures.

If something such as Child of Night attacks, and gets blocked by something with lower toughness like Doomed Traveler, do I gain as much damage as I do (which is 1) or do I gain life by how much power the creature has (2)?

310.2a Each attacking creature and each blocking creature will assign combat damage equal to its power. Creatures that would assign 0 or less damage this way don't assign combat damage at all.

So, Child of Night will deal 2 damage, and you will gain 2 life
