Leyline of the Void + creature death?
Asked by amadeuswolf 12 years ago
If i was to assign enough damage to kill my opponents creature, while i have Leyline of the Void out , does his creature actually die? i know its exiled due to the leyline, but does it actually die first then gets exiled?, am i right in thinking a creature has to hit the graveyard to die?

brilliant thanx, my friend has an annoying deck, constantly fuelling his vampires with Blade of the Bloodchief always sacrificing little weenies at instant speed. least this will put an end to it

Creatures your opponents control will no longer die (the keyword "die" now means "to be put into a graveyard from the battlefield"). When they are destroyed, they are exiled without hitting the graveyard.
This is because Leyline of the Void sets up a replacement effect (indicated by the word "instead"), which replaces the event of the creature going to the graveyard with the event of the creature going to exile.
