Lands in an EDH deck
Asked by megawurmple 10 years ago
I want to build an EDH deck with Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer as my Commander. Obviously I want to get as many artifacts in the deck as possible, so I want to run artifact lands. Given that lands are all colourless, would I be able to play the blue, black and green artifact lands with my R/W Commander?

as an addendum, color identity only cares about MANA SYMBOLS, it doesnt care about words. e.g. phrases like "search for an island" or "protection from blue" would not stop cards being in your deck. hell, You could run Polluted Delta if you really want to, but you would not be able to find any lands in your deck with it.
on magiccards.info, the search term for color identity is "ci:WUBRG"
here is a list of every land you would be permitted to play under your commander, using the terms t:land (type land) and ci:WU (color identity white and red)http://magiccards.info/query?q=t%3Aland+ci%3AWR&v=card&s=cname

in commander we have a thing called "color identity". color identity is determined by any colored mana symbols that appear int he cost or rules text of a card.
Seat of the Synod for example, although a colorless card, has the rules text "Tap: Add U to your mana pool." This gives it a "color identity" of U (blue). you won't be able to run it in your Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer EDH deck.
