Killing a "exploit-creature" while Exploit is on the stack

Asked by Dashiva7 9 years ago

Example: My opponent plays Sidisi, Undead Vizier. As it enters the battlefield, Exploit is put on the stack and he/she chooses to sacrifice a creature. In response, I kill Sidisi with a removal like Hero's Downfall. Sidisi goes to the graveyard, and then my opponent sacrifices a 1/1 token to Exploit.

Do my opponent still get to search the library for a card or not, since Sidisi initiated the Exploit-trigger?

No.

First the choice isn't made until the ability resolves. You won't know beforehand whether its controller will choose to sacrifice a creature.

The triggered ability that triggers on exploit is separate from the exploit ability itself. If Sidisi, Undead Vizier is not on the battlefield when the exploit ability resolves, its last ability can't trigger.
