Jin-GitaxiaS and New Legend Rule

Asked by DaggerV 11 years ago

Forgot to ask this here, was busting my head trying to remember something I thought of last night that would be extremely relevant during my EDH bouts on weekends. Let's say one of my opponents controls a [Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur]], and I cast Clone , coming in as a copy of Jin-Gitaxian. During my end phase, what happens exactly? Is Jin's ability a replacement effect, with last one on the field having dominate effect, thus rendering my opponent's Jin worthless? How does this go down?

None of Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur 's abilities are replacement effects.

Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur has two relevant abilities once on the battlefield. The first is a triggered ability that triggers at the beginning of its controller's end step. The second is a static ability that modifies the maximum hand size of Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur 's controller's opponents.

Neither of these abilities overrides anything if there are two Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur s on the battlefield. Each player's maximum hand size will be reduced by at least seven (players who control a Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur will have their max hand sizes reduced by seven; other players will have their max hand sizes reduced by fourteen. Each player controlling a Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur will draw seven cards at the beginning of his or her end step. Because the end step comes before the cleanup step, those players will still discard down to their maximum hand sizes.
