is shroud or hexproof the same as crystaline sliver's ability

Asked by abenz419 11 years ago

ok from my understanding, a creature with shroud can't be the target of spells or abilities. Whether or not they are your or your opponents. And a creature with hexproof can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control.

So I was just curious does Crystalline Sliver ability work more like shroud because it doesn't specify opponents spells like hexproof does. Or does it work more like hexproof and it's just understood that it means opponents spells???

Crystalline Sliver 's ability doesn't differentiate who controls the spell that targets your slivers. It basically says "slivers have shroud." Hexproof would say "Slivers cannot be targeted by spells or abilities your opponents control"

When you have a question about an older card's wording, check it's gatherer page for it's new oracle text.

In this case, Crystalline Sliver 's ability reads:

"All Slivers have shroud. (They can't be the targets of spells or abilities.)"

You can check a card's Gatherer entry for its "up to date" rules text. Older cards may sometimes have outdated or confusing wordings on them.

Crystalline Sliver 's Gatherer entry makes it pretty simple:

"All Slivers have shroud. (They can't be the targets of spells or abilities.)"

So it's not that it gives an ability 'like" Shroud, it just gives Shroud.

ok thanks, that's pretty much how I thought it worked but I just wanted to make sure. Also, I didn't realize they showed the up to date text like that on the gatherer data base, so now I know where to look next time
