is double strike doing combat damage 2 seperate times?

If a creatureyou control has double strike and deals combat damage to another creature while a card like Five-Alarm Fire is in play, will that count as 2 separate cases of combat damage and add 2 blaze counters?

Yes, so say if you had a Precinct Captain soulbonding with a Silverblade Paladin , you would deal combat damage twice(first strike and regular)and get two tokens from it.

It is important to note that occasionally, a double strike creature won't deal damage twice.

For instance, is a Drogskol Reaver blocked a Centaur Healer , the Centaur would take three damage in the 'First Strike' combat step, and die -- the Reaver would have nothing to deal it's normal damage to.

Double strike means a creature deals combat damage in the first strike damage step and again in the regular combat damage step. These are two separate instances of combat damage, and will be treated as such for the all purposes (including abilities that trigger on combat damage).

If all creatures the double striker is blocking or blocked by are removed from combat or die between the first strike damage step and the regular combat damage step, then the double striker won't deal damage in the second step (unless it has trample). Same goes for attacking a planeswalker and killing it in the first strike damage step.
