You can tap the first Dreamstone Hedron to get a second one, but Mirrorworks 's ability says "nontoken", so you can only get 1 copy.

but the second one taping is a response to the the ability of Mirrorworks which it happening when the artifact is being played.

Mirrorworks only triggers when a nontoken artifact enters the battlefield. You can only pay the 2 once per trigger. Thus, Mirrorworks triggers when the original Dreamstone Hedron enters the battlefield. You tap it to pay the 2 required for Mirrorworks 's ability, creating a copy of Dreamstone Hedron , but it's a token, so it won't trigger the Mirrorworks . Sorry, but 1 copy's your limit.

So does this mean that Also if I have 8 mana played Dreamstone Hedron . I can't pay the 2 from regular and tap Dreamstone Hedron to get 2 additional Dreamstone Hedrons?

Correct. Mirrorworks has what's called a triggered ability (you can tell it's a triggered ability by the use of the word "whenever"). Triggered abilities trigger and are put on the stack once for each event that triggers them, in this case a nontoken artifact entering the battlefield, and you get to resolve one copy only of that trigger.

The trigger isn't asking you "hey, you can get some copies if you pay 2 for each one," it's actually specifically saying "Hey, if you pay 2 right now, I'll put one token on the field that's a copy of that one." You can't up-tick it and pay it a bunch of times.
