If i tap Liquimetal Coating targeting my opponents land and enchant it with Relic Putrescence will the enchantment stay on the land after the end of the turn?
Asked by phyrexianpotater 14 years ago
in this deck Poison Control Center a big idea i had was to do that. turn a land into an artifact, enchant it with Relic Putrescence and pretty much render it unusable. since Liquimetal Coating says its only an artifact until the end of turn, would Relic Putrescence be removed from what i was enchanting? or is it there for good since ive already created the bond, like using liquimetal for Phylactery Lich counters and stuff like that.

Fairly certain it falls off as:
"303.4. Some enchantments have the subtype "Aura." An Aura enters the battlefield attached to an object or player. What an Aura can be attached to is restricted by its enchant keyword ability (see rule 702.5, "Enchant"). Other effects can limit what a permanent can be enchanted by."
"303.4b The object or player an Aura is attached to is called enchanted. The Aura is attached to, or "enchants," that object or player.
303.4c If an Aura is enchanting an illegal object or player, the object it was attached to no longer exists, or the player it was attached to has left the game, the Aura is put into its owner's graveyard. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704.)"
"704.5n If an Aura is attached to an illegal object or player, or is not attached to an object or player, that Aura is put into its owner's graveyard."
As soon as the object becomes illegal it falls off.
Phylactery Lich counters are different as they only have to be placed on an artifact and don't check for the legality of an object after being placed.

If you still want to use Relic Putrescence you can use Voltaic Key and any tapper to use on your opponents artefacts.

Fair enough. I still don't see it being an efficient combo mind you, but I guess it'd be fun for casual

the answer is no because the card states "when enchanted artifact becomes tapped." so i think the enchantment would stay on the land but it wouldn't activate as long as the land wasn't an artifact.
