If i attack a planeswalker with a creature, Would that trigger "Combat damage to a Player" effects?

For instance if i have a Sword of Feast and Famine on a creature and i successfully hit Elspeth Tirel Would my opponent have to discard? and i get to untap my lands?

No. Planeswalkers are not players, so effects that trigger on combat damage to a player will not trigger on combat damage to a planeswalker.

Effects that trigger on unrestricted combat damage will still trigger, though.
