If copies are exiled at beginning of end step, does Biovisionarys static still trigger?

Asked by gigagloin 9 years ago

Let's say i got two Biovisionary on the field and cast Twin Flame with strive on both. This means at the beginning of my end step, I have four creatures named Biovisionary, although two of them will be exiled at this moment. But, since I have 4 before the beginning of my end step, wouldn't that trigger Biovisionarys static?

You get to choose what happens first. You win the game, then they get exiled, or they get exiled, and then you don't win. Chances are, you pick option number 1.

To clarify just a bit more:

There are two triggered abilities that trigger at the beginning of your end step: Biovisionary's triggered ability (which actually triggers once per Biovisionary for a total of four instances of the trigger) and Twinflame's delayed triggered ability. Because you control all of these abilities, you choose the order in which they go onto the stack.

Now, Biovisionary's ability has an intervening "if" clause, which means that the specified condition (you control four or more creatures named Biovisionary) must be true both at the time it would trigger and at the time it would resolve.

If the condition is not true at the trigger event, then the ability doesn't trigger. If the condition is not true at resolution, then the ability resolves, but it doesn't do anything.

Therefore, you must put at least one instance of Biovisionary's ability onto the stack above Twinflame's delayed triggered ability if you want to win the game this way.
