Asked by DonaldFuck 7 years ago

I cracked a Stitcher's graft the other day and i was thinking how to use it. I think i understood the card wrong. Can i equip it to an opponent's creature, then unequip it in order to sac it? I quess i can't but i am not 100% sure.

Stitcher's Graft.

You may only equip equipment to creatures you control.

502.33a Equip is an activated ability of artifact Equipment cards. The phrase "Equip (cost)" means "(cost): Move this Equipment onto target creature you control. Play this ability only any time you could play a sorcery."

Additionally, if Stitcher's Graft somehow becomes attached to an opponent's creature (perhaps Ogre Geargrabber), when it becomes unattached, if you control the equipment again, you will trigger it's ability and attempt to sacrifice you're opponent's creature. As you don't control the creature, you will fail to sacrifice it and the ability will do nothing.

701.15a To sacrifice a permanent, its controller moves it from the battlefield directly to its owner's graveyard. A player can't sacrifice something that isnt a permanent, or something that's a permanent he or she doesn't control. Sacrificing a permanent doesn't destroy it, so regeneration or other effects that replace destruction can't affect this action.
