How does Bestow Effect the card type?

Asked by mrloudcar 11 years ago

This is a multi-part question. When the card , for example, Nyxborn Shieldmate is in my hand, library, or graveyard, it is a Enchantment Creature. This means it is an enchantment, a creature, and an enchantment creature. What is it when it is bestowed onto another creature? Will casting is for its bestow cost trigger Purphoros, God of the Forge or will it only trigger when if falls off the creatrure it was bestowed on?

Also, if I have Hero of Iroas on the battlefield, will its bestow cost be 1 less? The bestow states it is an Aura with enchant creature, I do not understand what that means.

When you cast a creature with bestow for its bestow cost, it stops being a creature, and becomes an 'Enchantment - Aura'

When you cast it for its bestow cost, it is not a creature when it enters the battlefield, and won't trigger Purphoros, God of the Forge . When it falls off the creature it was enchanting it ALSO won't trigger Purphoros, because at that point it is not entering the battlefield, just changing characteristics while already there.

Hero of Iroas will reduce the cost of bestowing, because, when you cast it for its bestow cost, it goes onto the stack as an Aura, and then when the cost is calculated, it will be reduced by one by the Hero.

Though note that casting a card for its bestow cost doesn't make it lose "creature card status" until step 2 or 3 of casting a spell, so anything that gives your creature spells flash would let you flash a bestow card in.
