Explain how Kurkesh, onakke works, please?
Asked by Krishnov 10 years ago
Ok, so how does he work? if the card is an artifact can he copy an ability such as indestructible as long as it isn't a mana ability?
Okay now that I know I'm not getting ninja'd.
Please link all cards so we can reference with ease.
The wording on Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient answers this question for you.
The words "whenever you activate" means that he can only copy activated abilities. So something like Master Transmuter could be copied butnsomething like Gilded Lotus could not. Also Indestructible is not an activated ability and is therefore, not subject to his ability. Same thing would be true with hexproof or vigilance.

Link all cards in your question.
Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient
Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient's ability is a triggered ability that triggers whenever you activate an activated ability of an artifact. Remember that activated abilities are written in the form "[cost]: [effect]," and the cost and effect are separated by a colon.
You can only copy triggered abilities. Indestructible is a static ability and cannot be copied.
And just for reference (in case this was a point of confusion), a mana ability is any activated ability that (1) doesn't target anything, (2) isn't a loyalty ability, and (3) would add mana to a player's mana pool when it resolves. It is also any triggered ability that triggers from a mana ability and would add mana to a player's mana pool when it resolves. Mana abilities don't use the stack.
