Experiment Kraj and Viridian Joiner

Asked by trgoose 13 years ago

So I have gotten multiple answers for this question. If i have a Viridian JoinerMTG Card: Viridian Joiner in play with a +1/+1, does Experiment KrajMTG Card: Experiment Kraj gain its ability replacing the words Viridian JoinerMTG Card: Viridian Joiner with Experiment KrajMTG Card: Experiment Kraj? I am assuming the answer is yes because this works with Horseshoe CrabMTG Card: Horseshoe Crab.

When an ability uses the name of the card it's on, but doesn't say "a card named...", then it means "this thing right here". If another creature gains that ability, it will also mean "this thing right here", so Kraj will count his own toughness if he gets the Joiner's ability.

201.4b If an ability of an object refers to that object by name, and an object with a different name gains that ability, each instance of the first name in the gained ability that refers to the first object by name should be treated as the second name.

Yes, whenever a permanent's ability refers to it's own name, that basically means "the permanent this ability belongs to".
