Enchantment Auras - Can u move them?
Asked by blackhowling 11 years ago
So today while playing magic, a guy told me you can move enchantment auras from one creature to another? I always thought that once you put them on a creature you cannot remove it unless a spell or ability removes it? Say for example Ethereal Armor I thought once its on the creature you cant move it, unless its destroyed or a card specifies so?

but auras will be removed from a creature if there not on the battlefield (but will go to graveyard)

No. Once an enchantment is enchanting a creature, you cannot move it unless a spell or ability (or ability of the enchantment) ALLOWS you to move it.
You can re-equip equipment from one creature to another at sorcery speed by paying the equip cost.
More than likely the guy is trying to fool you. He's a jerk.

Once an aura is attached to an object, that aura will only move if an effect explicitly causes it to or if the object can no longer legally be enchanted by the aura (in the latter case, the aura will be put into its owner's graveyard as a state-based action).
So without something like Aura Finesse , you can't move enchantments from object to object.

@Nigrescence: I wouldn't jump to that conclusion; there are plenty of cases in which people are misinformed or still learning. Happens all the time.

Could the guy have been thinking about equipment and not enchantments?

Oh, Thanks for the help everyone! He must be thinking of artifacts and not enchantments then. I didnt think enchantments could be moved, Except for specific abilities like Bruna, Light of Alabaster
amishrambo says... #1
the only means you can move a aura is if a card says so like Bruna, Light of Alabaster
