dredging your own connive?

Asked by koylucumert 1 year ago

lets say I have a Golgari Grave-Troll on the battlefield with 3 black creatures. I cast Lethal Scheme by convoking with my 4 creatures, and targetting the troll. when it dies, can I replace its own connive with it dredging itself?

Yes that works. The detailed rules for the Connive ability don't specifically require the creature to still be on the battlefield in order to work and also include a specific rule to address what to do if the creature goes missing:

701.47c If a permanent changes zones before an effect causes it to connive, its last known information is used to determine which object connived and who controlled it.

koylucumert: An answer to your question has been up for a while. Since there don't seem to be any follow-ups or corrections that need to be made, I marked it as the "Accepted answer" so this topic can move out of the list of unanswered questions. In the future you can take care of this yourself using the "Mark as Answer" button on the response that you feel is the best answer to your question.

I try to avoid marking my own responses when I do this but in this case it was the only option.
