Door of Destinies and Morph
Asked by j957o3 10 years ago
Say I have Door of Destinies out in play and I play a card with morph and it is an angel along with that being chosen as the creature type for the door. Will Door of Destinies receive a counter as the morph is flipped and it is an angel?

Door of Destinies triggers on the casting of the spell. Morph'd creatures and spells have no subtypes and will not trigger Door of Destinies without an effect like Conspiracy .

Short answer: No counter for the door.
Long answer: Two reasons why it won't work. One, as Jedne said above, is that un-morphing the creature is not casting the creature. Casting a spell is the bit where you take it from your hand, put it on the stack, pay costs and all that. Two, if you cast it as a Morph creature, on the stack, it is a 2/2 Creature spell with no subtypes, including Angel, so you won't get a counter on the cast either. If you want the counter, you have to cast it face-up.

I don't believe it would. It says as you cast a spell of the chosen type, and morphlings are 2/2 no name, no type
