Does Tamiyo, Field Researcher +1 target?

I had a question about Tamiyo, Field Researchers first ability, it doesn't say target so can I choose an opponents creature that has hexproof or shroud? I'm pretty sure I can but my playgroup is divided on the ruling.

Wording from Tamiyo:

-+1: Choose up to two target creatures. Until your next turn, whenever either of those creatures deals combat damage, you draw a card.

From Gatherer:

• Tamiyos first ability can target creatures you dont control. Youll draw a card, not their controller, if they deal combat damage.

• If Tamiyos first ability targets two creatures, and both deal combat damage at the same time, the delayed triggered ability triggers twice.
