Does Stalking Vengeance trigger with tokens being sacrificed? How about Undying?

Asked by Monsmtg 9 years ago

I have a Feldon of the Third Path commander deck, and I was deciding if I should stalking vengeance. I want to be sure that it's ability would be triggered if Feldon reanimated a creature with it on the battlefield.

Feldon of the Third Path
Stalking Vengeance

"Dies" just means "is put into the graveyard from the battlefield." Anything that causes a creature to move from the battlefield to the graveyard causes that creature to die. This includes sacrifice.

Undying triggers when a creature dies, so the creature must necessarily die in order for undying to work.

Note also that Feldon of the Third Path doesn't reanimate anything. Rather, it creates a token copy of the target card. The tokens can die, but they will not return to the battlefield with undying because they will cease to exist as a state-based action when they're in another zone (additionally, tokens cannot change zones twice; if they leave the battlefield, they remain in their new zone until they cease to exist).
