Does manifesting Grand Abolisher cause spells/abilities to fizzle?

Asked by Andromedus 1 year ago

My opponent casts a spell or uses a creature ability during my turn, in response I manifest Grand Abolisher by using Mastery of the Unseen. Does their spell fizzle? Does the creature (or artifact etc.) still tap (if tap is a cost) but have no effect? Or can manifest not be used with Abolisher in this way?

I know manifest doesn't use the stack and can't be responded to, but Abolisher also is supposed to prevent actions, so I'm not sure how this resolves.

Grand Abolisher prevents your opponents from casting spells or activating abilities on your turn. It has no effect on spells that have already been cast or abilities that have already been activated. All it prevents is the action of casting the spell/activating the ability.
