Does an activated ability from a permanent still resolve if it is buried first?

I play a land and have Hedron Crab in play, and the 3 card mill goes on the stack. My opponent responds by lightningbolting the crad. Does he still get milled 3 cards?

Yes. Abilities, once on the stack, act independently of their sources.
