Does a shapeshifter retain its original form once it goes to the graveyard?

Say i had a Phyrexian Metamorph and i copied an Avatar of Woe . The my copied avatar died. Would the [[phyrexian metamorph retain its original form in the grave (i.e. card color, power, toughness, CMC)?

When something changes zones, it becomes a new game object with no relation to what it was before (minus a few exceptions that don't apply here).
If your Metamorph copy of Avatar dies, it will turn back into a regular Metamorph as it enters the graveyard, not copying anything. If some effect makes it return to the battlefield, you'll make a new choice about what to copy.

It would be the original card in graveyard, its copy effect only lasts while on battlefield.
Someone else may go into more detail than me though.
