Destroy creature, Grim Return, Undying Evil Resolution

Asked by Doom_of_Valyria 9 years ago

So the player destroyed a creature on his turn, and then plays Grim Return to grab that destroyed creature. Now the opponent adds Undying Evil to the stack, what happens? Does Undying Evil resolve first on the stack, making Grim Return fizzle? Or does the player whose turn it is have their Grim Return resolve first (does he have some sort of priority?), and thus making Undying Evil fizzle?

Undying Evil cannot be cast to target a creature in a graveyard, and Grim Return has to target a creature that is in a graveyard, so there is no interaction between the two and they cannot even target the same creature at the same time.
Additionally, Undying only has an affect if the creature has Undying at the point where it dies. If a creature in a graveyard were to somehow gain undying, that would have no effect on it.

Also, "priority" is only used in reference to the right to play spells and activate abilities. It is not used to describe an effect or object taking precedence over another (and the stack always resolves from the top down, regardless of who cast what.

Hey guys thanks, RTFC, right? It was something that was happening live and I knew the T/O would rise to the occasion, so I just threw it up.
