Daxos the Returned
Asked by SkullOfPoison 7 years ago
I would use Daxos the Returned mana ability on his card to make a spirit but in responce my friends would use a spell like [Lightning bolt] or something to return it to hand.
Already using the mana it stayed tapped but I didn't make a spirit, Is that how it works?
Does the Spirit come onto the battlefield but Daxos still has the effect happen to him?

To clarify, Daxos the Returned does not have any mana abilities. A mana ability is an ability that (1) adds mana to a player's mana pool when it resolves, (2) doesn't target anything, and (3) isn't a loyalty ability.
You also don't tap Daxos the Returned to activate its ability.
Once an ability is on the stack, it exists independently of its source. Destroying or otherwise removing the source will not remove or counter the ability.
If you activate Daxos the Returned's ability, the ability goes onto the stack. If your opponent responds with Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt will go on top of the stack and will resolve first, dealing lethal damage to Daxos the Returned. After that, Daxos the Returned's ability will resolve. You'll still get a token, even though Daxos the Returned is no longer on the battlefield.
