Cryptoplasm and Evil Twin

Asked by S3L3KA 13 years ago

If I cast CryptoplasmMTG Card: Cryptoplasm and then Evil TwinMTG Card: Evil Twin copying the Cryptoplasm the Evil Twin would gain its UB/Tap "Destroy creature with the same name" ability. It also has Cryptoplasm's ability to transform at the next upkeep.

My question is if I use the Evil Twin-copy of Cryptoplasm on my next upkeep to copy a creature my opponent controls... does it keep the tap/destroy ability, or does the ability go away because the new creature it is copying will override the evil twin ability on the previous card.

I'm pretty sure Evil Twin's ability goes away.. just want to make sure.

Thanks!

Take the process step by step:

Evil TwinMTG Card: Evil Twin copies CryptoplasmMTG Card: Cryptoplasm. It is now a Cryptoplasm with these abilities

UB, T: Destroy target creature with the same name as this creature

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may have Cryptoplasm become a copy of another target creature. If you do, Cryptoplasm gains this ability.

The copy ability it gets from Cryptoplasm does not transfer all abilities of its current form - it only transfers the ability to copy something at upkeep. If you choose to have your Twin/Cryptoplasm copy something at your upkeep, it will lose the Twin's ability.
