Creature Becomes a Land Mid-combat
Asked by Quoyle 7 years ago
I cast Tezzeret's Touch on a Treasure Map that has 2 landmark counters on it. I then block with my 5/5 treasure map artifact creature, and before damage is dealt, I activate it's ability, causing it to transform immediately. The card is now a Land (not an artifact), so the enchantment is no longer valid. The enchantment gets put into my graveyard, and I now have a Land blocking a creature before damage is dealt. What's supposed to happen here? Am I correct in thinking that the Treasure Cove is removed from combat and the attacking creature will deal no combat damage because it is still considered blocked?

Yes, that's what happens. If a creature stops being a creature then it gets removed from combat, and a blocked creature stays blocked even if all of its blockers go away somehow.
