Crawlspace Vs. Hero of Bladehold

My wife and I found ourselves in this situation.

She had Crawlspace out, and I attacked with two Hero of Bladehold s.

How should this be managed?

My thoughts:

Two Hero of Bladehold s are declared as attacking

This triggeres the four soldiers to come in, but since I am already maxed out with my attackers, they come in not attacking.

Only the Hero of Bladehold attack.

On effects like this, "attack" means "be declared as an attacker". Crawlspace doesn't interfere with any effects that bring in a creature who's already attacking, because it was never declared as attacking. The two Heroes are the limit of what you're allowed to declare, but then they sneak in their soldier buddies after the fact.
