Copying inkmoth nexus

Asked by Banwar 12 years ago

If I have activated the ability on Inkmoth Nexus to make it an Blinkmoth artifact and then copy it with, say, a Phyrexian Metamorph , does the copy transform back at the end of turn, or does it remain an Blinkmoth atrifact indefinitely?

Your Phyrexian Metamorph comes in as an Inkmoth Nexus that is not a creature. Copy effects don't copy animation effects. They copy the base card in question (which in this case is just a land).

So to further this if phrexian metamorph copies a 5/5 darksteelRelic made by tezz, will it be a 5/5?

No. That is an animation effect and not something on the base card.

Basically, when your Phyrexian Metamorph ETBs, it's treated as though you played another of whatever you copied. That's why aura and equipment buffs don't carry over, either.

If I understand Epoch's answer correctly the copy will be a land the turn it was copied, but can be animated if I payed the mana cost.

Correct. Phyrexian Metamorph will become a base Inkmoth Nexus that is unanimated at ETB, but that can be animated later on.
