Consuming Aberration help?

Asked by TIMMSY7 12 years ago

If I had two Consuming Aberration on the field and I played a spell would the opponent have to discard cards from their deck till they reveal a land twice or once? and also if I played a spell that required them to discard three cards from the top of their deck which would come into effect first, the consuming aberrations or the effect of the card?

this is all about the stack.

two Consuming Aberration s on the field when the spell is cast

each one will trigger and be put on the stack sequentially, above the spell that was cast

then they will resolve separately, so they mill til they hit 1 land, two times.

and then the spell will resolve and require them to mill until they hit three lands.

get it?

They would happen one after another. So your opponent would discard cards up to the land card, then do it again.

Going from the library to the graveyard is referred to as "milling." Discard implies that the cards are in your hand.

For your first question, two Consuming Aberration would create separate triggers, and you get to choose how they go onto the stack. The end result will be the same, however, in that your opponent will mill once until a land is revealed, then mill again until another land is revealed.

If you cast Mind Sculpt while Consuming Aberration is out, then the stack looks like this:

Consuming Aberration trigger
Mind Sculpt

The stack resolves from by last in, first out. So, your opponent will mill until a land is reached, then mill an additional 7 cards from their library.

Suppose you had 2 Consuming Aberration on the battlefield, and you cast Paranoid Delusions

when you cast it, both the Consuming Aberration s trigger, and you choose which effect to put on the stack first.

they then resolve 1 after the other, and then Paranoid Delusions will resolve.

Ultimately, the effect will be you opponent mills until he hits a land, mills until he hits a land again, and then the initial spell resolves.

what happens to the land revealed in this way? does it go into the player's hand or on top of the library?

Since the land was one of the revealed cards, it goes to the graveyard, too.
