Combating with Odric, Tajic, and Aurelia?

Asked by CJ_95 11 years ago

I just have one question about these 3. 1) Let's say I attack with Odric and 3 Boros Elite. For Odric's ability, it says "you choose which creatures block this combat and how they block", so being that. I can't choose for my opponent('s) creature(s) to not block that combat? 2) Let's say I attack with Tajic, Aurelia, and a Doomed Traveler. Does Tajic get +5/+5 for both combat phases because of Aurelia's ability equaling +10/+10 for a 12/12 Tajic?

Your post looks like a mess, so I'm going to have to guess what you're asking from the cards you mentioned.

When Odric's Ability triggers, you can choose for creatures to not block, at all (the Gatherer ruling says as much).

Batallion is worded as "Whenever ~ and at least two other creatures attack, _," so yes; Aurelia can trigger Batallion multiple times with her ability.

1) Questions like this can almost always be answered by just reading the Oracle rulings for the card(s) in question. Odric, Master Tactician has the following entry:

7/1/2012: You can decide that a creature won't block.

Therefore, you can choose for your opponent's creatures to not block.

2) Yes. Battalion abilities will trigger during each combat phase assuming you attack with three creatures both times. Tajic, Blade of the Legion 's ability applies an effect that lasts until the end of the turn. During the second combat phase, he will still have the buff from the first combat phase. The net effect is that he has +10/+10 during the second combat.

Odric, Tajic, Aurelia, plus one more creature (say a Legion Loyalist ) = combat win! 3 damage twice by Odric, 3 from Aurelia twice, 1 twice from the Loyalist, and 7 then 12 from Tajic for a total of 33 damage!
