Child of Alara
Asked by Riv329 8 years ago
When playing as my Commander Child of Alara is says when put into a graveyard from play, destroy all nonland permanents. Does the command zone count when someone kills this card.
Actually the card says "When Child of Alara dies destroy all nonland permanents. They can't be regenerated."
Even if you put your Child back into the Command Zone after it is killed, Child still died; you simply used the allowed Commander replacement action of putting it into your Command Zone instead of the Graveyard. I believe the wrath effect still triggers.

700.4. The term dies means "is put into a graveyard from the battlefield."
Commander never hits the graveyard. Replacement effect puts it into Command Zone instead of graveyard.

No. You can decide for it to actually go to the graveyard, if desired, to get the Wrath of God effect but it will remain there until it changes zones again. At that point you could chose for it to go to the command zone.
