Chandra copying a flashbacked Increasing Ambition

Asked by Raspberries 12 years ago

If Chandra, the Firebrand 's -2 copies a flashed back Increasing Ambition (or any other of the increasing series), is the copy considered to be cast from the graveyard, tutoring 2 cards as well?

A copy of a spell also copies all decisions made while casting it, including modes, targets, whether alternate costs were paid, etc. A copy of a "boosted" Increasing Ambition will also be boosted.

Just a warning Chandra, the Firebrand can't copy Increasing Vengeance just because of the nature of the spell. (Chandra can only use her abilities at sorcery speed so you have to use it then you would cast the spell that you desired to copy with Increasing Vengeance which would be copied by her -2 automatically before the Increasing Vengeance can be cast.)

At least how I see it.

It turns out I answered this question incorrectly. I thought the Increasing cycle said "if [cardname]'s flashback cost was paid", but I didn't stop to read the card closely. If that were the case, then my answer would have been right (because of a copy remembering whether an alternate cost was paid), but it isn't. They actually say "if [cardname] was cast from a graveyard". The copy isn't cast at all, and definitely not from a graveyard. The copy won't be "boosted".

Thank you for the clarification.
