casting when storm happens?

What happened was my friend had Possibility Storm out and about. my next turn I had the mana to bring out Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. Do I still get ulamogs first ability before he's swapped for something else thanks to the storm?

Abilities, whether activated or triggered, exist on the stack independently of their source. Meaning, that if the card from which the ability came from is not in the zone from where the ability happened, that said ability will still resolve as normal.

You get your Ulamog trigger, with everything happening in a certain order:
Both the Storm and Ulamog's own ability trigger when you cast Ulamog. Because the triggers are controlled by different players and it's currently your turn, your trigger is put onto the stack first (and you choose targets for it now) and your opponent's trigger is put onto the stack on top of it. Even though the Storm trigger will resolve first and replace the Ulamog spell with something else, that doesn't get rid of Ulamog's trigger. It will still end up resolving.
