Can you use a non specific card like Alloy Myr in an EDH deck with only two colors?

I'm new to EDH, and am getting ready to build my first deck. I know that you can't put cards into your deck that don't share the color of your commander, but what about a card like Alloy Myr or Birds of Paradise ?

The color identity of a card includes all the mana symbols written in its cost and its rules text. Because Birds of Paradise only has G in its cost and no mana symbols written in its rules text, its color identity is only Green. Likewise, Alloy Myr has no color identity, because it doesn't have any mana symbols written anywhere on it. You can add the Myr to any Commander deck.

It is worth noting that in an EDH game, you may only produce mana of your commander's color identity. For example, if you had a red/green commander, you may tap Birds of Paradise or Alloy Myr for only red or green. However, if you try to produce a color other than your commander's color identity, it will only produce colorless. So in EDH you can technically tap them for colorless, or one of your commander's colors.
