Can you cast spells with alternate costs from Harness the Storm's ability?

Could you for example cast Grip of the Roil from your hand, then cast the one in your graveyard for the surge cost? Or perhaps an awakened Clutch of Currents from hand, and cast for the awaken cost from the graveyard?

Yes you can! =D you can also pay additional costs, suck as kicker, or buyback.

yup totally doable. if you are using something like goblin darkdwellers though, you still would have to pay the surge cost.

Note that Goblin Dark-Dwellers gives the spell an alternative cost of "free" (without paying its mana cost). Surge is also an alternative cost, not an additional cost.
You cannot choose multiple alternative costs to cast the same spell. You only choose one or the other. In this case, you must cast the spell for "free" or not cast it at all.

Now, regarding free spells... is Archive Trap + Harness the Storm doable?

You can certainly cast Archive Trap. Since Harness the Storm doesn't give any alternative costs like the Dark-Dwellers, you're allowed to use a different one. Specifically, you can pay for the Trap if an opponent searched their library.

Yes, unless the alternate cost requires the spell to be played from your hand, such as with Fuse. And yes to both scenarios you suggested.
