can Royal Assassin target an attacking creature and kill it before it deals combat damage?

if a creature attacks, tapping in the process (provided it doesn't have vigilance), can Royal Assassin kill it before the attacking creature deals combat damage?

The answer is yes. When you destroyed the attacking creature with Royal Assassin 's effect, there will be no damage since the attacking creature is gone. Just like destroying an attacking creature with a Doom Blade .

Yes.

A creature is tapped during the declare attackers step. You have two opportunities to destroy it with Royal Assassin after that: during the declare attackers step (after attackers have been declared), and during the declare blockers step (after blockers have been declared).
