Can I get out Nylea, God of the Hunt with Mayael the Anima without having enough devotion?

Asked by MartialArt 11 years ago

Mayael the Anima gets me creatures with power 5 or greater wich is true for Nylea, God of the Hunt but if I don't have enough devotion to green her ability states the she isn't a creature. Does this ability still apply in my deck making it impossible to fetch her with Mayael while my devotion to green is less then 5?

It will work. Abilities printed on cards work only on the battlefield, unless they specify otherwise. So in all other zones, gods will be considered creature cards regardless of your devotion. However, if you don't have enough devotion, it will enter the battlefield as an enchantment only.

Note: The only ability I can think of now, which works in other zones than the battlefield while not specifically saying so, is the ability that sets a creature's toughness to a certain value based on external information (for example Lhurgoyf ). That ability will function anywhere and will always be able to retreive the information it needs.

I meant "a creature's power or toughness".

As what the god enters the battlefield doesn't matter for me as long as I can get it out to profit from the abilities.

Are you sure this ability doesn't work constantly in the library, or the graveyard?
