can I get negative life total?

I have Platinum Angel and Immolating Souleater in play, if I had starting life total how many times could I use soul eaters ability?

It's possible to have a negative life total, but not with this combination of cards alone. You can only use resources you actually have to pay costs. If you currently have 1 or less life then you won't be able to spend 2 life to pay for the in the cost of Immolating Souleater's ability.

You can have a negative life total, and even still be in the game via Platinum Angel and the like.
However you cannot pay life you don't have. So if you have 1 or less life, you cannot activate the souleater by paying life.
