Can I flicker mulldrifter after paying its evoke cost?

Asked by rckclimber777 12 years ago

I'm tweaking one of my edh decks and I'm adding Deadeye Navigator to the deck and considering adding Mulldrifter . Now is evoke a triggered ability that uses the stack? I'm assuming that that is the case in which case I should be able to pay the evoke cost, get its triggered ability on the stack along with the soulbond of the navigator, then flicker it thus saving it from sacrifice and drawing 4 cards. But I wanted to make sure as evoke is not an ability I'm familiar with.

Yes. When you evoke a creature, you're basically setting up a triggered ability that says "sacrifice this creature" that triggers then the evoked creature ETBs. You can respond to this trigger by blinking the evoked creature. When the creature enters the battlefield again, it will be a new permanent and won't be sacrificed.

Ok just wanted to make sure thanks! I noticed the Deadeye Navigator in your EDH deck and it gave me lots of ideas so thanks for that!

No problem. It's a very good utility card, even if it's a bit expensive at 6 CMC.
