Can I copy Eye of Ugin with Vesuva?

Okay, so I let somebody use my eldrazi deck and I was watching the game (http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/run-everybody-its-a-turn-3-emrakul/ if you're curious)

He then tried to copy Eye of Ugin with Vesuva and I told him that they would go to the graveyard because of the legend rule, but he claims that Vesuva doesn't copy the legendary land type so they don't go.

Am I right?

Yes, you are. If you weren't, clone effects wouldn't kill legendary creatures.

Vesuva enters as a copy of the target land, so it also copies all aspects of the land. Take a photocopy of the target land, and BAM, you have Vesuva's effect.

Both lands would be placed into their owner's graveyard as a state based action, due to the Legend Rule.

A copy effect copies everything written on the original (everything), plus the results of any other copy effects the original is currently subject to. The Vesuva in your example is an exact copy of Eye of Ugin , meaning the Legend rule zaps them both for being Legendary permanents with the same name on the battlefield at the same time.
