Can I cast spells between Double Strike damage?

Asked by megawurmple 11 years ago

For example, I attack with Drogskol Reaver and he's blocked by a 6/6. I deal First Strike damage, then draw a card. The card I draw is Lightning Bolt I then use the Bolt on the 6/6, killing it before the normal Combat Damage step in order to preserve my Reaver. Am I allowed to do this? I assume I am, but I just want to check.

I've just realised now that I missed a full stop after Lightning Bolt. It should read "The card I draw is Lightning Bolt. I then use the Bolt on the 6/6..."

Yes, the way first strike and double strike work is they create a second combat damage step before the normal one. As part of that step, you will get priority and have time to cast spells.

Thanks for clearing that up. I assumed that was the case, but I was never 100% sure until now.
