can i bring back Child of Alara if i sac him to Hell's Caretaker?

I sac Child of Alara to Hell's Caretaker and target the child back to the battlefield. is this legal?

No. You have to declare your targets before you pay the costs of a spell or ability. In this case Child of Alara isn't in the graveyard until you pay Hell's Caretaker's cost of sacrificing it, so you can't target it.
