Can I block with Ormendahl and the creatures I sac-ed for him?
Asked by Skwarka 7 years ago
So my question is whether or not I can declare creatures as blockers, sacrifice them to Westvale Abbey Flip, and then block with Ormendahl, Profane Prince Flip?
I know I can block with the creatures before I sac them, I just need to know if I can then block with the prince himself?
Okay, so then what's the difference between this and flashing in a creature?

If you flash a creature in at the end of the declare attackers step, it's on the field As the declare blockers step begins. Therefore, you can block with it.
If you were to activate Westvale Abbey Flip's transform ability at the end of the declare attackers step, you wouldn't be able to block with any of the creatures you sacrificed. If you activated the ability after declaring blockers, it's too late to add Ormendahl, Profane Prince Flip to the blocking assignments.

No. You declare blockers all at once as a turn-based action. Once you finish the declaration, you can't go back and change it. Therefore, you can't block with any creatures you don't control as the declare blockers step begins.
