Can Deadeye navigator's ability act twice?

Asked by alexininikovsky 12 years ago

If i have a deadeye navigator soulbonded to an acidic slime, and i activate the ability and bounce the acidic slime, and then in response to that I activate it again, will the slime flicker once or twice?

Deadeye Navigator

As the Acidic Slime get back to the battlefield you will be able to chose to soulbound it again. So i guess you could use this ETB effect as long as you got mana

If you activate the ability again in response to the previous instance, your Acidic Slime will only be blinked once. After the topmost ability resolves, the Acidic Slime that is the source of both abilities will be exiled, then returned to the battlefield. When the second ability resolves, it looks for a creature that isn't there anymore (the Acidic Slime becomes a new permanent when it leaves and returns), and it doesn't do anything.

You could just rebond it to the Deadeye Navigator when it's returned to the battlefield, then activate the ability again after that happens.

You can activate it as many times as you want on top of the stack, but it'll only bounce once and the other activations will fizzle because they do not recognize the returning Acidic Slime as the same creature you activated them for.

However, Bobgalarneau is right; you can let one activation resolve, and when the Acidic Slime enters the battlefield again, allow it to Soulbond with Deadeye Navigator , and you can activate the ability again.
